October 25, 2011 - Robert D. Klausner addressed the National Pension Education Association at its annual conference in Naples, Florida. Robert presented a survey leading the judicial cases decided in the preceding year and focused on cases currently pending in state and federal courts through the United States. The NPEA provides a forum to educate public retirement system professionals and encourage the ongoing exchange of information, ideas, goals and objectives of retirement planning and member communication.

October 24, 2011 - Robert D. Klausner addressed the Ohio Joint Trustee training workshop in Columbus, Ohio. The workshop was attended by trustees and senior administrators of the five Ohio state and statewide retirement systems and the Ohio Deferred Compensation Plan. The plans cover all state, county and municipal employees in Ohio, except for the members in Cincinnati Retirement System. Robert spoke on key elements of fiduciary responsibility with a focus on current trends in public employee retirement plan administration.

October 20, 2011 – Robert D. Klausner spoke to the Advanced Seminar for the National Federation of Municipal Analysts in Austin, Texas. Robert presented a discussion on the defined benefit – defined contribution pension design issues facing the state and local governments. The talk also focused on the role of the labor management relations in this debate. The NFMA is a not-for-profit association with over 1,000 members throughout the U.S. The professional focus of the members is on the creditworthiness of municipal bonds.

October 3, 2011 – Adam P. Levinson addressed the Florida association of Public Pension Trustee School on issues relating to Florida’s Public pension statutes. The FPPTA offers two Trustees Schools and one Annual Conference per year. The schools are designed to provide an educational environment focusing on specific issues and subjects pertaining to trustees and pension boards.

September 14-15, 2011 -
Adam P. Levinson addressed the annual Firefighter Pre Retirement Seminar sponsored by the City of Sunrise (Florida) Firefighters Retirement System. Adam Spoke on the legal issues to be considered when approaching retirement and making optional choices for benefit distribution. The City of Sunrise Firefighters Retirement System is a defined benefit pension plan established pursuant to Florida law and city ordinance to provide retirement, disability and death benefits to the members of the City of Sunrise Fire Rescue Department.
